DSNmod tackles the challenges of decentralised moderation. Traditional social networks such as Twitter or Facebook can concentrate large amounts of resources and data for content moderation, a growing decentralised ecosystem; the fediverse, composed by decentralised applications, cannot. This is a critical problem: on the one hand, it unpairs this decentralisation, as compared with the centralised alternatives; on the other hand, with limited moderation, managing toxicity is challenging.

DSNmod will tackle these challenges by exploring the potential of privacy-preserving federated moderation.
