Director of REPHRAIN
Prof Awais Rashid has 20 years of expertise leading large, multi-partner, interdisciplinary projects. He leads Bristol Cyber Security Group (with members from computer science, sociology, psychology, criminology) and is Director of the interdisciplinary EPSRC CDT TIPS-at-Scale: Trust, identity, privacy & security in large-scale infrastructures. Previously, he founded and directed the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) at Lancaster Univ., co-founding/directing the Security Lancaster Institute which, under his leadership, grew to >100 researchers across 8 disciplines. He heads the National Cyber Security Programme CyBOK project, with a college of 110 world-leading experts defining interdisciplinary foundations for cyber security (incl. privacy, online rights & law), interdisciplinary projects in national programmes: RISCS, RITICS, PETRAS and is advisor to two German national centres on security & privacy (CROSSING, ATHENE). He is a member of the EPSRC Digital Economy Programme Advisory Board and chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of RISCS: Research Institute for Sociotechnical Cyber Security.
