This project will consider the evaluation of the applicability of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 for intimate partner violence (IPV) to give a better understanding of historic domestic abuse and CMA cases in order to give law enforcement agencies and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) a powerful tool to charge tech abusers, and help the research and practitioner community to develop awareness of the types of digital systems that are abused, refine technical mitigation strategies such as privacy enhancing technologies (PETS), and explore the usefulness of existing legislative means (such as the CMA) to deal with the harms derived from digital systems.
